We are a Lyceum in the small town of Veroia, in Northern Greece. We have nearly 220 students 15-18 year old and a staff of 21 permanent teachers of all specialties. Our school is a new built complex comprising of the main building with classrooms and an extension with labs. We also have an additional auditorium and teachers’ office. They cover an area of nearly 10 acres along with courts, athletic facilities and a garden. It is located in an area full of ancient mοnuments. The city of Verοia is about 10 kilometers from the ancient city of Vergina where there is a museum below ground/on top of several royal tombs, among them the tomb of King Philip. Recently a new museum was added in the area, the Polycentric Museum of Aigai (Aegae)
As a Lyceum, we mainly offer Academic teaching in the areas of Science, Language, Economics, Sociology, History, Informatics, Foreign Languages and Physical Education. Apart from these subjects, students are encouraged to take part in school teams and have had some very successful teams so far. We believe in transparency and social awareness so we encourage participation in actions undertaken by the local City Council and we maintain a school site with several hundred thousand visitors, hosting information on activities, competitions, regulations and Calls for action by various organizations.
We have been quite active in taking part in European Programs, both Erasmus+ and eTwinning. These programs have strengthened the links between teachers from different countries but mainly help friendship between students
Our National Agency has awarded us the Erasmus Accreditation with code 2020-1-EL01-KA120-SCH-094598 for easy access to opportunities funding under Key Action 1 of the new program (2021-2027)
In the field of School Education. We have also added new projects like the “Teachers4Europe” initiative which is part of an Erasmus+KA3 by the University of Piraeus and two after-school clubs in Robotics. We have also been taking part in athletic competitions, as we have school teams that have won prizes, a team that has taken part in Debate competitions. Our Robotics teams have taken part in Festivals and National Robotics competition and have won distinctions for their project. These only describe a fraction of our effort as a school to ensure a better education and future for our students.
When we refer to the future of our students we include both academic and professional achievement, the opportunity to be active European citizens who will be able to formulate the future of Europe in more areas than Politics. We also want to aid our students in acquiring skills that will help them grow as personalities, have Empathy towards others, work well with others and be healthy and happy.
